Odd and overly complicated

I was initially intrigued by this kit (Language Arts kit B) because of the wooden grammar symbols and the songs. After trying it for a semester, there were a few things I liked, but I found most of it odd or overly complicated to use. The scripted lessons were awkward to read. The handwriting included stylized serifs. No one writes a's or g's in that manner. I ended up using other materials to teach my 1st grader handwriting. The LA lessons varied between way too easy to way too difficult to completely unnecessary. I ended up using other materials for it as well. I never got around to listening to any of the songs. The reading materials are all in the free domain so they can be printed for free from the internet. I messaged customer service twice asking questions before purchasing. I immediately got a bunch of spam, but it took days before I finally got a response to my first question. I never received any response to my second message. Overall, we got very little use out of this kit and I regretted purchasing it.

Love it

We love our Shiller curriculum. The comprehensive, hands on approach suits our sensory motor learner. I will say that we replaced the circle kit with a more traditional Montessori movable alphabet to better suit our specific needs. I'm so glad that you came out with a Shiller language arts option!

High quality

We purchased the language arts kits A & B. The quality of the manipulatives is amazing! And the instruction manuals could not be easier to use! I highly recommend these programs for the montessori homeschool family or anyone looking to supplement learning with their children.

Just what we have been looking for!

I wish we had this when the kids were younger. Our seven-year-old will be using the diagnostic testing to fill gaps from the earlier book. There is a lot of material in here! It will probably take us through 4th grade, rather than 3rd. Love the wooden grammar symblols - what a fun, multi-sensory way of learning the parts of speech. The circle kit is an excellent reading/spelling manipulative. The readers are excellent literature choices. We have been very happy with the ShillerMath math kits and are thrilled they've added language arts. As always they have delivered quality materials at a good value.
